Print from a Chromebook

Connect the Chromebook to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer, then press Ctrl + P. Open the Destination menu, choose See more and select your printer. ChromeOS sets up most current printers automatically, with no drivers to install.

ipp/printunless your printer's manual says otherwise, and select Add. -
Connect a USB printer
Plug the printer into the Chromebook with a USB cable. A notification usually offers to set it up; if not, it should appear in the printer list in Settings.

Remove and save it again

-
Check it supports driverless printing
ChromeOS prints without manufacturer drivers, using the IPP Everywhere standard. Most printers made in the last several years support it, and printers labelled as AirPrint or Mopria compatible usually work. Check the manual or the maker's official support site if you're unsure.
-
Confirm its network connection
Print a network configuration page and check it shows Connected, your network name and an IP address.
-
Restart and update
Restart the printer and router, and update the printer's firmware using the manufacturer's official instructions.
Did this fix it?
Good. To confirm everything is healthy, print a test page. It takes a minute and shows any quality problems early.

Common questions
Do I need to install a printer driver on a Chromebook?
No. ChromeOS doesn't install manufacturer drivers; it uses built-in driverless printing, plus included drivers for some older models.
Can I still use Google Cloud Print?
No. Google Cloud Print shut down at the end of 2020. Print directly over Wi-Fi or USB instead.
