Short version: we don’t ask for your personal details, the device check runs entirely in your browser, and analytics or ads load only if you agree.
Who we are

Information we don’t collect
You don’t need an account to use The Print Bench. We don’t ask for your name, address, phone number or payment details, and we never ask for access to your computer.
The device check
The device check reads information your browser already makes available to every website: operating system, browser version, language, time zone, connection type and whether you’re online. It works this out inside your browser. The results are shown only to you and are not sent to us or anyone else. To measure connection speed and your clock, it makes a small request to our own server, which receives only what any normal page request contains.
Live chat
If you start a chat or leave a message, we collect what you type in: your name, your email address if you give it, your printer model, your messages, the page you started from and your browser’s user-agent string (which says which browser and operating system you use). Our team sees this to help you.
So that a conversation can follow you between pages, the chat widget also sends our chat server the address of each page you view and a random visitor ID stored in your browser. Chats are handled entirely on our own server; no outside chat company is involved. We don’t store your IP address with your chat. Closed chats and offline messages are deleted automatically after 90 days. To have a chat deleted sooner, email us.
Stored on your device
We use your browser’s local storage, not cookies, to remember a few preferences. This stays on your device and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.

Server logs
Like every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic request information (IP address, browser type, page requested, time) to keep the site secure and working. These logs are kept for a limited period and are not used to identify you.
Analytics
We use the following only if you select Accept all in the cookie banner. Until then, they don’t load.
- Microsoft Clarity shows us how pages are used (clicks, scrolling and anonymized session recordings) so we can make the guides easier to follow. Text you type into forms is masked. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of personal data about you, and to complain to a data protection authority. Because we hold very little information, most requests can be handled by clearing your browser storage. For anything else, email hello@theprinterbench.info.
Children
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
