Independent printer help. Not affiliated with any printer manufacturer.

Research

Every guide starts from the problem as people describe it: the words they search for and the exact messages they see. We check each step against current versions of Windows 11 and 10, macOS, ChromeOS, iOS and Android, and against manufacturers’ own published documentation.

Who writes and reviews

Our fixes are written and reviewed by people with hands-on printer repair experience. Reviewers check each step against the current software it describes before the review date on the page is updated.

Writing

  • Steps are ordered from the quickest, safest fix to the most involved.
  • We use the exact names of buttons and menus, and say what you should see after each step.
  • Anything that carries risk, such as editing the registry or reaching inside a printer, is clearly marked with what could go wrong.
  • We never recommend permanently switching off a security protection to make a printer work.

Independence

No manufacturer, retailer or advertiser can pay to change a guide. We don’t use affiliate links in instructions. Where a manufacturer’s own app or website is the right answer, we say so and link to it directly.

Updates

Operating systems and printer software change often. Each page shows the date it was last reviewed. We revisit guides after major Windows and macOS releases and whenever readers report that something has changed.

Corrections

If a step is wrong, out of date or unclear, tell us at hello@theprinterbench.info with the page address and what you saw. We review every report and correct mistakes promptly.
