About The Print Bench

Why this site exists

Printers fail in a handful of predictable ways: they go offline, jam, streak, or lose their driver after an update. The fixes are usually simple, but they’re scattered across manuals, forums and support pages that assume you already know the jargon.

The Print Bench puts those fixes in one place, written so anyone can follow them. Each guide starts with the most likely fix, then walks through the rest in order, with the exact menus for Windows, Mac, Chromebook and phones.

What makes us different

• Independent. We aren’t owned by, paid by or affiliated with any printer manufacturer or software company. Brand names appear only to say which printers a fix applies to.
• Help by chat. Our guides are written for you to follow yourself. If you get stuck, our printer assistant and our team can help you by live chat, free of charge. There is no phone number to call, and we never ask to connect to your computer. Our team is independent and doesn’t work for any printer manufacturer.
• Written by people who repair printers. Our fixes are written and reviewed by people with hands-on printer repair experience.
• Honest tools. Our device check reports only what a browser can genuinely detect, and says plainly what it can’t see.
• Manufacturer first for repairs. When a printer needs warranty service or official software, we send you to the maker’s own website.

How the site is funded

The site is currently run without advertising. If we add ads in future, they will be clearly labelled, kept away from instructions, and will never affect what our guides recommend. We don’t accept payment to mention or recommend products.
